Kidscreen - Health related quality of life in children - an EC cross sectional, multi-cultural study
[Margarida Gaspar de Matos, Tania Gaspar & Aventura Social Work Team (www.kidscreen.org ). This research aims to gain knowledge about children and adolescents' health related quality of life, matching their perceptions with their parents'. The final aim is to develop intervention programs focusing on health related quality of life in Portuguese public schools and at community level. Includes the edition of a manual. Includes training of health and education professionals and working with families. Includes a more systemic work at institutional and policy level.
This work is included in an international network (http://cmdtpt.ihmt.unl.pt/gestcont/research/)
The project has the main objectives:
- Contribute to the knowledge of children' and adolescents' health related quality of life
- Special focus on specific conditions: poverty/migration, gender differences, chronic diseases, mental health, violence
- Dissemination and discussion of the results with the participants;
- Development of an intervention programme focus on the promotion of health related quality of life
- Parents and teachers training.
- Increasing policymakers' awareness to the emerging threats regarding children and adolescents health related quality of life
