[Margarida Gaspar de Matos, Celeste Simões & Aventura Social Work Team (www.hbsc.org) This research aims to gain knowledge about adolescents' health related behaviours and to develop intervention programs focusing on the health promotion in Portuguese public schools, and at community level. Includes the edition of several manual covering different topics of adolescents' health. Includes the design an maintenance of an interactive webpage ( http://cmdtpt.ihmt.unl.pt/gestcont/research ). Includes training of health and education professionals and working with families. Includes a more systemic work at institutional and policy level.

The project has the main objectives:
- Contribute to the knowledge of behaviours and life styles of adolescents
- Special focus on specific conditions and behaviours: poverty/ migration, gender inequities, mental health, violence, sexual behavior and HIV prevention
- Dissemination and discussion of the results with the participants;
- Development of an intervention programme focus on the promotion of protective factors
- Parents and teachers training in the areas mentioned above.
- Increasing policymakers' awareness to emerging health compromising conditions and behaviors in adolescents
- Increasing policymakers' awareness to trends in health compromising conditions and behaviours in adolescents in the last 8 years
